Parent's Guide
Parenting a student entering college is an exciting time in the life of the student and the parent. We are pleased that you both are considering The University of New Orleans. Information on this website will assist you both in making this important decision, whether the student will be an entering freshman or a transfer student.
In general UNO receives and awards over 48 million dollars in financial aid -- grants, loans, and Work-Study -- most of which is awarded on the basis of financial need.
The University is committed to meeting the demonstrated financial need of undergraduate and graduate students. We currently meet approximately 65% to 90% of our student's direct cost of attendance (tuition, fees, and books) that are residents of the state of Louisiana.
There are many reasons to choose one college over another, and we'd like to think cost is the least significant. However, we know that cost, and financial assistance, are sometimes crucial to the decision-making process. The staff of the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships wants to assist you and your family through the tedious process of financial aid and budget issues. Also, Federal Student Aid has provided this link to help walk you through the Financial Aid process.
