As a student of finance at UNO, you will focus on understanding the core principles of American business while preparing to work as brokers, commodity specialists, financial planners, bank managers, and other roles in the financial services sector.

At UNO you’ll study macro and micro economics and receive a thorough grounding in the mechanisms and methodologies of financial markets and institutions. You will also choose a concentration that best suits your interest: financial service administration, financial analyst, financial planning, or real estate. Regardless of what concentration you choose your studies will cover the foundations of finance as well as more specialized areas such as investments, personal finance, analysis, small business finance.

To expand what you learn in the classroom further, you may take advantage of internships opportunities at such important New Orleans area businesses. Recent examples of our students’ internships include working for New Orleans BioInnovation Center, Whitney Bank, and Merrill Lynch.

After you have completed your degree from UNO, you will be qualified to work in research, policy, non-profits, and government organizations. You will also be prepared for the rigors of graduate work in finance, economics, and related fields in the best graduate programs in the country.
