I'm originally from Birmingham, AL and moved to New Orleans after finishing graduate school in December 2009.  I can say, without a doubt, that I have never lived anywhere so unique and so culturally rich as New Orleans.  From what I've learned, if you're from here you never leave...if you leave you come back...if you're here for the first time, there's a good chance you'll stay.  What's great about UNO is that you get the combination of a stellar education paired with the fun of being a student in a city like New Orleans.  It's easy to find yourself walking the French Quarter with your history class, or meeting for music appreciation class at a jazz club on Frenchman Street as our professors are very supportive or learning opportunities outside the classroom! Being an admissions counselor gives me the great opportunity to help with this exciting transition to college, so please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

Coming from a small town in eastern North Carolina, I've grown to appreciate the joys of living in a city as unique as New Orleans.  New Orleans has been home to me for more than a year and Louisiana for six years. I absolutely love living here!  Kind strangers will ask you if the Saints will get a win on Sunday, offer dinner recommendations, and even let you view a Mardi Gras parade from their awesome reserved spot along the route.  On a fateful trip to New Orleans in 2005 I actually met my husband at the airport! This city will always have a special place in my heart.  UNO offers an excellent opportunity for you to not only live in one of the best cities in the world, but also get a top-notch education.  It's a win-win situation!!
