Max Derbes, III Professorship in Real Estate at UNO

Dr. Ivan Miestchovich, Jr. has been named as the Max Derbes, III Professor of Real Estate at the University of New Orleans. Dr. Miestchovich serves as the Director of the Institute for Economic Development and Real Estate Research and is also an Associate Professor of Finance.

Max Derbes, III ProfessorshipThe Professorship was created to honor the memory of Max Derbes, III (pictured at the left) through the generous contributions made by many of his colleagues and friends throughout the New Orleans area and real estate community. The effort to create this Professorship was led by members of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and spearheaded by Mr. Robert Merrick and Mr. Alvin Davis of Latter & Blum, Inc.

The Professorship will forever keep the memory of one of the industry's consummate professionals at the forefront. Max, III held numerous professional recognitions and awards, was a tireless contributor to the continuous improvement of the real estate industry and generously shared his time, talent and expertise in a wide range of civic and philanthropic endeavors. Max, III was frequently called upon to share his experience and knowledge in various professional development and educational venues. Dr. Miestchovich observed that "At UNO, we were particularly blessed to have Max, III as a frequent speaker at our annual real estate conferences. When Max spoke, people listened. His comments were always spot on. Max is sorely missed, but certainly not forgotten. The Professorship helps ensure that will never happen."
