Overview

The college offers a program for initial certification in the Middle School Grades (4-8). This program is not available for candidates pursuing a Bachelor's degree. Middle School certification is offered via the Master of Arts in Teaching program. There is unique pedagogical coursework associated with these grade levels, and candidates must also choose a content area.

The four content areas are:

• English
• Math
• Science
• Social Studies

The Master of Arts in Teaching Degree (MAT) is offered through a Graduate Alternate Certification Program that is primarily intended for those who have completed a non-education bachelor’s degree and now wish to obtain an initial teaching certification.
