About the Department

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction prepares students for teaching and related careers at the baccalaureate, master's and doctoral levels in a broad variety of curricular areas; partners with and improves schools in the Greater New Orleans area; and generates and disseminates applied, basic, and sponsored research concerning teaching and learning.

The department's programs are informed by the interaction of theory and practice, and they are designed to develop an understanding of the major roles of teachers in culturally diverse, urban educational settings. Courses of study, partnerships with various agencies, and funded projects provide students with access to the most recent innovations in educational research, assessment, and technology.
