College of Sciences

Through its seven departments, the College of Sciences offers baccalaureate degrees in the natural, physical and computational sciences, as well as several masters’ and Ph.D. programs. Core to all programs is classroom and laboratory instruction. Graduate and qualified undergraduate students may also participate in research experiences in the basic and applied sciences.

Coastal Engineering and Sciences (CEAS) Program New! Coastal Engineering and Sciences (CEAS) Program

The new Graduate Certificate in Coastal Sciences offers graduate students and professionals the opportunity to go beyond traditional curriculum and gain knowledge and competencies that meet growing workforce needs and global challenges of coastal restoration and water management. Courses begin in the spring 2015 semester and will be offered in the classroom and online.

Oil Exploration Company Gives UNO Seismic Data License Worth $640,000 Oil Exploration Company Gives UNO Seismic Data License Worth $640,000

Multinational oil exploration company Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) has donated a $640,000 three-dimensional seismic data license to the University of New Orleans. Geophysics students will use seismic data from deep in the Gulf of Mexico to help geophysicists figure out whether sub-sea rock formations are likely to contain fossil fuels.
