How do I submit a UNO Cares Early Alert?

Faculty members can submit a UNO Cares through WebSTAR.

    We encourage faculty members to submit an alert only after they have been in contact with their student (either through e-mail or meeting).

Staff members that would like to notify a Student Success Counselor can do so by contacting First Year Experience. Please be aware that situations may vary, but Student Success Counselors will keep instructors updated on progress as they deem to be appropriate.  Due to the high level of cases Student Success Counselors manage, in addition to their many other job responsibilities, the following process has been designed:

First & Second Year Students

  • E-mail notification sent to student encouraging them to meet with their instructor or Student Success Counselor (faculty member will be BCC'ed on this email)
  • Phone call to students' preferred numbers
  • Final e-mail notification sent to student
  • Should you wish to follow up regarding the outcome of a specific case, please send an e-mail to the Student Success Counselor assigned to the case (determined by last name).

Junior, Senior, Graduate Students

  • E-mail notification sent to student encouraging them to meet with their instructor, Student Success Counselor, or representative from their College
