Candidate Plan of Study

Provides a list of courses taken towards the degree. Due the semester prior to the semester a student intends to graduate. 

Application for Degree

How a student is officially added to the University graduation list. Due the first week of classes in the semester that a student intends to graduate.  Student completes this in WebSTAR. 

Request for Transfer Credit

Master's degree students who have completed 9 graduate credit hours at UNO in good standing may transfer in up to 1/3 of the required hours from another institution. Only coursework taken at the graduate level, within the time limit and with a grade of B or above may be transferred. 

Request for Dual Degree

For students seeking to complete two master's degree programs simultaneously. 

Certification of Computer Competency/Language Requirement

Required for some Master's degrees. 

Non-thesis Master's Examination Report | Co-chairs version

Approval of the Non-thesis Examination Committee. Due approximately 4 weeks prior to the Commencement Ceremony. 

Thesis and Dissertation Format Manual

Format requirements for all theses and dissertations.

2 page form - student signs on the first page and committee signs on the second page. Due approximately 4 weeks prior to the Commencement Ceremony. 

Request for Extension of the time limit

Students admitted prior to Fall 2012:  
  • All requirements towards a Master's degree must be completed within 8 calendar years.

  • All requirements towards a Doctoral degree must be completed within 13 years of admission.

 Students admitted or re-admitted after a 5-year absence Fall 2012 and thereafter: 
  • All requirements towards a Master's degree must be completed within 6 calendar years.

  • All requirements towards a Doctoral degree must be completed within 6 calendar years of completing the General Examination.

 *Each degree program may enforce stricter time limits on degree completion.
