POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Voice and Movement position related to theatre production. We seek an accomplished practitioner with experience in teaching at the university level.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching load is four courses each semester, usually with one course reduction per semester for creative and research work. Candidate will be required to teach courses that serve the stage vocal/movement production needs of undergraduate and graduate students. Appropriate candidate should have a knowledge specifically in one vocal methodology such as Linkleter but an understanding of other vocal training techniques. Same is true of movement background and training. It is understood candidates will possibly have a stronger background in one or other area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include: advising students on all aspects related to theatre production, MFA thesis committee work, ongoing research and creative work, and serving on department and university committees. An ancillary area, such as directing, acting, history, or film would be a plus. Candidate course load beyond the required courses will be based on areas of expertise and could include: Directing in the production season, mentoring production needs, and/or serving as vocal coach on various projects.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

MFA and professional experience.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three + years of teaching at the university level, experience Chairing thesis committees for MFA Performance graduate students, successful grant writing accomplishments, experience developing courses and curricula.

$60,000
