Coordinator of Athletics Communications (Temporary Position)




The University of New Orleans seeks two (2) qualified candidates to be coordinators of Athletics Communications. The athletics communications coordinators aid the overall operation of the Athletics Communications department, assisting the Director of Athletics Communications and New Media in the promotion of all 14 NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic programs at the University of New Orleans.


: The University of New Orleans is an NCAA Division I institution competing in the Southland Conference and has an enrollment of 8,037 students. The candidate will serve as the primary media contact for selected sports, maintain historical records, assist in the design and publication of gameday and seasonal publications, compile statistics, assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Athletics Department website, upkeep the department’s social media platforms and supervise a staff of student workers. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), and Stat Crew is preferred. Some travel might be required, as well as working events on nights and weekends.


A bachelor's degree in journalism, business, sports administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is required. Experience with in-game statistical software strongly preferred. Candidates should possess strong written and oral communication skills; proficiency in desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign and Photoshop), live streaming technology, new media applications (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), digital photography, and basic computer applications. Additionally, the candidate should be able to stick to, meet deadlines and work independently. The applicant must be able to adhere to the requirements of the NCAA, Southland Conference and the mission of the University of New Orleans.



Position is for 11-months, beginning as soon as possible and running through June 30, 2018 with possible renewal for a second year, has a competitive monthly stipend.
