Director of Athletics Communications & New Media




The Director of Athletics Communications and New Media (DACNM) will be expected to assume the following primary responsibilities: • Develop, plan and implement creative publicity and promotion strategies for all 14 Division I programs. • Build positive working relationships with members of local and regional media outlets. • Direct and manage four major content areas including media relations, social & digital content, video production & distribution and graphic design. • Direct and actively participate in the production of timely, comprehensive and engaging content in close collaboration with the External Relations team and distributed via all traditional and new media platforms. • Create and manage all current information, digital content and historical data for, the official website of New Orleans Athletics. • Oversee game day media operations including supervision of event staff and table crew members working in support of athletics communications and new media initiatives. • Select and supervise photographers for athletics contests and planned photo opportunities. • Assist with the planning and production of live audio and/or video broadcasts of athletics events. • Maintain historical records, statistics, news and video archives for all current and past sports programs. • Other duties and special projects as assigned by Director of Athletics and/or Associate AD for External Relations. The Director of Athletics Communications and New Media will be expected to maintain compliance with UNO Athletics, Southland Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. DACNM must adhere to UNO, UL System and State of Louisiana policies and procedures. DACNM must be able to work evenings and weekends and travel with various teams as needed for successful job performance. DACNM will promote the advancement of the University's vision and support the University's mission through the process of promoting and publicizing the institution's 14 Division I Athletics programs.



Bachelor's degree; professional experience in the communications, media, marketing or public relations division of a college athletics program or professional sports organization. Candidate must have demonstrated proficiency with online and print publishing; proven sports writing experience; advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.


Master's degree in communications or related field; minimum of 3 years professional experience in sports information, media relations or athletics communications department of a Division I Athletics program.


Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
