Operations Coordinator


School of the Arts


The University of New Orleans School of the Arts is seeking applicants for the unclassified position of Operations Coordinator. As one of three administrative assistants working within the newly formed School of the Arts, the Operations Coordinator will be responsible for event coordination, marketing and communications, and web and social media for the school. The Operations Coordinator reports directly to the Director of the School of the Arts. The successful candidate for this position will: • Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills • Have strong written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrate an ability to coordinate with other appropriate campus offices to address the needs of the school • Contribute to the organizational planning process of the newly created school • Demonstrate a willingness to work with faculty and students across all programs within the School of the Arts The School of the Arts includes programs in Arts Administration, Film, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts, with 30 full time faculty, 35 part time faculty, and 700 students. It is housed within the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Human Development and occupies the Performing Arts Center and the Fine Arts Building and Gallery on the main campus of the University of New Orleans, and the UNO Gallery on St. Claude Avenue.


Events Management – 60% • Maintain calendar of events • Schedule use of facilities • Ensure that equipment and office supplies are stocked, maintained, and replenished as needed • Contact university police for scheduling security details • Coordinate the activities of student workers, including stage managers • Coordinate with the University events director and coordinator as appropriate Marketing and Outreach – 40% • Marketing • Recruiting • Public relations • Manages social media pages • Coordinates with UNO Marketing for website content, newsletters, upcoming events, email blasts… • Purchasing flyers, promotional materials, etc Additional duties as assigned


• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, arts management or related field; in lieu of the degree, 6 years of professional work experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; proficiency with MS Office. At least one (1) year experience working in higher education.


• Master’s degree; Experience with web design and Adobe systems; Familiarity with higher education arts marketing and communications approaches and processes. At least (3) years’ experience working in higher education.
