Budget Coordinator

The University of New Orleans School of the Arts is seeking applicants for the unclassified position of Budget Coordinator. As one of three administrative assistants working within the newly formed School of the Arts, the Budget Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining financial records for all programs within the school, including university and foundation accounts, and for facilitating all aspects of the purchasing process. The Budget Coordinator reports directly to the Director of the School of the Arts. The successful candidate for this position will: • Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills • Have expertise in financial management for an organization • Have strong written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrate an ability to coordinate with other appropriate campus offices to address the needs of the school • Contribute to the organizational planning process of the newly created school • Demonstrate a willingness to work with faculty and students across all programs within the School of the Arts The School of the Arts includes programs in Arts Administration, Film, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts, with 30 full time faculty, 35 part time faculty, and 700 students. It is housed within the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Human Development and occupies the Performing Arts Center and the Fine Arts Building and Gallery on the main campus of the University of New Orleans, and the UNO Gallery on St. Claude Avenue.


Fiscal Management – 90% • Budget management (School and Foundation accounts) • Maintain accurate and complete financial records • Provide director, endowed professors, and PI’s with regular reports on budget • Create and administer all school contracts • Maintain accurate records of scholarships and student service awards • Purchasing • Student worker/Graduate Assistant Payroll • Coordinate with the College budget manager as appropriate Operations Support – 10% • Approve/key leave, unpaid and sabbatical • File quarterly safety reports • Maintain moveable equipment records and complete annual Property Control inventory Additional duties as assigned.


• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public administration or related field with at least one (1) year experience in higher education; in lieu of the degree, 6 years of professional work experience.


• Master’s degree in business, finance, or public administration. Familiarity with budget processes and policies in the State of Louisiana, UL System, and/or the University of New Orleans. Familiarity with PeopleSoft. Three (3) years of experience in higher education budgeting or personnel management.
