Business Manager

Track grant expenditures and assist PIs and department business managers with their grant and contracts financial management. Work with SPA to insure that grant expenditures are within terms of the grant and assist with re-budgeting grants and contracts as necessary. Support PIs by facilitating the conduct of workshops, creation of educational tools and working with ORSP, SPA and the Dean to improve work processes. Work with ORSP and SPA to insure that grant and contracts accounts are closed in accordance with granting agency guidelines. All payroll and purchase requisitions must be approved by Business Manager; check account for adequate payroll/non-payroll funds and monitor payroll/non-payroll expenditures. Monitor general fund and grant/contracts accounts for over and underspending. Work with department business managers, PIs, SPA and the Dean to insure that funds are spent in accordance with terms of grant/contract or general fund guidelines. The business manager will be responsible for monitoring grant and contracts accounts and their associated cost share accounts – restricted and general fund cost share accounts – based upon information provided by SPA as to which grant and contracts accounts have restricted and general fund cost share. The business manager will assist the Dean with general fund College accounts and assist departmental business managers with general fund accounts. Will develop workshops and queries for departments to monitor general fund accounts. Attend professional meetings to keep abreast of changes in research administration, governmental finance and accounting (i.e. NCURA national and regional meetings; AGA professional development conferences and training programs).


​Bachelor's degree in accounting/business and 2 years of professional experience. Must have experience in administrative and/or grant coordinator duties. Strong knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.


​Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred. Must be a team player and self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and be able to multi-task.


Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
