POSITION SUMMARY

The Coordinator for Business, Grants and Student Affairs will work closely with the Chair of Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) /Director of the Pontchartrain Institute for Environmental Sciences (PIES) to coordinate all aspects of the department and research institute’s business operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include oversight and management of the departmental and grants accounting, personnel activities and purchasing for both EES and PIES. The department and research institute have numerous active research grants that require detailed and continuous expenditure tracking. The Coordinator will also be responsible for course scheduling, managing room assignments, developing and distributing EES major lists, and assisting the chair with graduate faculty appointments. The Coordinator will also support year round research activities and student field experiences. This position will supervise 2-3 undergraduate or graduate student workers.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, finance or related field Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational ability with attention to detail and accuracy; and proficiency using Microsoft Office suite and other office technology.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree in related field Grant or project-based budget management experience Strong working knowledge of PeopleSoft, SharePoint, Webstar and Excel including pivot tables and multi-year budget development Experience managing multiple projects or programs Relevant work experience in a student centered university setting preferred


SALARY

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
