Director of Athletics Compliance




This position handles the day-to-day responsibilities of all aspects of the athletics department NCAA rules education and compliance program. The position acts as an athletic department liaison with the NCAA and affiliated conferences, office of general counsel and outside constituent groups regarding rules interpretations and compliance issues.


• Serve as the leader and primary day-to-day manager of the UNO athletic compliance program; develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program that supports the athletic department’s mission with particular responsibility for ensuring innovative and effective compliance systems for education, monitoring and certification. • Initiate innovative educational programs designed to maintain coaches, staff and student-athletes understanding of NCAA and conference rules and policies. • Evaluate initial and continuing eligibility, financial aid administration, and investigation into potential rules violations; process and report rules violations and waivers. • Research staff and coaches’ inquiries and interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Assists with the preparation of institutional, NCAA, and Southland reports relating to athletic rules compliance. • Maintain and oversee grants-in-aid, National Letters of Intent, squad lists, eligibility checklists, required NCAA paperwork for student-athletes, academic records, recruiting records, Academic Performance Program data and mandated NCAA reports. • Monitor recruiting logs, playing and practice season logs, CARA, official visits and complimentary ticket process; oversee institutional camps and clinics program. • Annually update and maintain the UNO Compliance Department policies and procedures manual and Student Athlete Handbook. • Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Southland Conference, University and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. • Represent UNO in a positive manner at any events on or off campus. • Assume other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment/SWA and Athletics Director.


Bachelor's Degree.

2-3 years of related experience in college athletics at an NCAA Division I or II institution, conference, or national office; experience may include athletic internships or graduate assistantships.

Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, eligibility certification, and APR.

Strong research, organizational and computer skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.


Master’s degree. 2-3 years of related experience in a NCAA Division I Athletics Department, preferably within a compliance office. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills. Experience with NCAA Compliance Assistant (CAi) software and LSDBi database. Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with coaches, student-athletes, staff, administrators, and alumni.
