Counseling Program Lab Coordinator and Community Liaison

The Clinical Counseling Lab Coordinator position is a key position in the functioning of the Counselor Education Program. The Coordinator interacts with various individuals throughout the day (e.g., faculty members, students, and university personnel) and needs to be self-motivated and have a strong work ethic. This Coordinator position reports directly to the Clinical Faculty Liaison for the Counselor Education Program and provides the following services in conjunction with the Counselor Education masters’ and doctoral programs at the University of New Orleans: (a) coordinating full use of the Counseling Lab and (b) serving as a practicum and supervision liaison between the counseling program and the surrounding community. Below is a list of assigned per the needs of the Counselor Education Program and flexibility is needed. Moreover, the Coordinator needs to be available during the afternoon/evenings as majority of the counseling courses are held at this time and when the lab will be utilized.


This position requires coordination of a new counseling lab; therefore, it is imperative that the Coordinator be a self-starter, adaptable to a changing environment, and familiar with technology. • Coordinate services provided in the on-campus lab including: o Provide orientation of the lab to new on-campus students on computer and video equipment o Create a master lab schedule (e.g., scheduling lab rooms for clinical and supervision use) and coordinating with faculty members a semester in advance o Utilizes an established Google calendar to schedule these appointments and room assignments for classes o Coordinate with doctoral students for lab usage (e.g., supervision meetings, dissertation defenses, etc.) o Maintain the cleanliness of the lab o Collaborate with the university security department to maintain a current and active list of students who have access to the equipment in the lab o Assist students in the lab with technology as needed • Serve as liaison between the Counselor Education program and the community o Coordinate master’s degree student practicum and internship application process o Cultivate and maintain relationships with practicum and internship sites o Assist with providing orientation and consultation to site supervisors • Assist in providing group supervision for master’s level practicum and internship students.


Master’s degree in counseling from a CACREP-accredited institution; Must hold Louisiana LPC-S (Board Approved Counselor Supervisor; Able to work flexible hours



Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
