This position will be responsible for recruiting and retaining STEM students to the University of New Orleans. This position will also play a role in STEM visits to high schools along with Engineering and Sciences staff and faculty.


Include but are not limited to: student advising, making connections for advisees to other campus-based advising services (resource referrals), supporting STEM programming and operational efforts, and overseeing the academic progress of advisees. As a member of a team of advisors, works with others to establish fruitful connections with science, engineering, and mathematics departments, guiding daily operations and overseeing initiatives to meet recruitment and retention goals. This position is required to learn and maintain an expert knowledge of all STEM curriculums. He/she will advise new STEM transfer students, assist with STEM programs for current students, and work closely with Deans and Vice Presidents to ensure these students succeed. • Programming – Support University-wide programming pertaining to prospective and new students. Participate in specialized programming for STEM transfers. • Academic Progress – Maintain oversight of STEM student academic progress and serve as the early alert liaison for STEM students (sophomore level and above). • Work with faculty advisors for the STEM areas to maintain consistency for students. Other Duties as assigned - This may include activities such as assisting the First Year Advising staff, First Year Experience Staff, and Admissions staff with Orientation and Privateer Advising Days preparations, as well as various administrative tasks.


Bachelor's degree and excellent oral and written communication skills. Willing to do extensive travel and work non-traditional hours. Must possess the ability to relate to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Possess strong interpersonal skills.



Up to $35,000. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
