Director, Orientation and Programs

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Orientation and Programs has the primary responsibility for the development, implementation and assessment of all programs which support new students acclimation and orientation to the University, enhance students' leadership potential and skills, and provide opportunities for students to participate in the University community. In addition, the Director oversees Orientation Programs, Welcome Week activities, assists with Student Involvement and Leadership, First Year Experience and First Year Academic Advising.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will lead all Enrollment Services programs for Admissions, Financial Aid and First Year Experience units to include in-person and web-based opportunities, will liaison with colleges to develop appropriate support at all events and will measure impact of these programs.
Will also coordinate week of welcome activities in conjunction with other university offices.
Will lead the delivery of on-and off-campus Financial Aid programs to educate current and prospective students.
Will work with staff to assess efforts to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Will actively collect and use data to make decisions and improve both individual and office performance.
Will also develop the required knowledge base to serve as a resource to all students coming to the Student Enrollment Services Center. Will actively seek out this knowledge and take advantage of opportunities to grow professionally.
Conduct an annual performance evaluation for each subordinate setting future goals and strategies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in admissions or related field. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be a self-starter, willing to do travel and work non-traditional hours. Must possess the ability to relate to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Must have a high energy level and strong interpersonal skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree and experience in admissions, recruiting and financial aid. Familiarity with the concepts of marketing and advertising. Knowledge and appreciation of the UNO community.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
