Coordinator for Student-Athlete Enrichment

DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics

POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinate the Department's academic support and enhancement programs. Assist in the development and implementation of life-skills, student-athlete well-being programs and all team related community outreach activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with the Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment to insure that the Department and University are in compliance with University, Southland Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Provides academic counseling for student-athletes and assigned teams as designated by the Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Enrichment.
• Monitors academic performance, and prepares reports for designated sports.
• Maintains open and consistent contact with coaches and administrators, faculty and University support staff.
• Meets regularly with at-risk student-athletes to develop effective academic plans and to assess academic progress and eligibility status.
• Develops strong working relationships with student-athletes to emphasize the value of education and the development of self-reliance and self-confidence.
• Assist with award programming honoring the academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes.
• Assist with providing guidance and career counseling to student-athletes; developing, implementing and facilitating workshops and guest speaker series.
• Assist student-athletes with applications to graduate school and securing employment upon graduation.
• Assist student-athletes in developing job-readiness skills, including but not limited to cover letters, resume writing and successful interviewing skills.
• Serve as a resource for coaches, prospective students-athletes and parents during the recruitment process.
• Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Southland Conference, University and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 1-2 years related professional experience in college athletics.
Proven ability to develop, establish and sustain relationships with various constituents.
Demonstrated success in business, education, athletics or related field. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills. Strong research and computer skills.
Proven ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Knowledge of NCAA and Southland Conference rules and regulations helpful.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree in a related field.
1-2 years of related professional experience in a Division I Athletics Department.
