DEPARTMENT: Medicaid Support Contract – Contract Support

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Process Medicaid applications and annual/periodic renewals up to the final decision.
• Clear issues and discrepancies in Application Management to assist with the processing of Applications and Renewals.
• Review data systems to obtain required information and verification needed to establish eligibility.
• Establish and maintain controls to ensure certifications are completed within required deadlines.
• Document eligibility research electronically in the required Medicaid system applications and research third party data systems to assist in making accurate eligibility determinations
• Prepare eligibility decision notices by inputting required data into the corresponding Medicaid application systems.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicaid policies and procedures and ensure that any new changes, updates or clearances are applied accordingly.
• Maintain knowledge and usage of all verification systems the agency has access to.
• Review requests from newly eligible recipients for retroactive reimbursements for paid medical expenses and ensure that requests are forwarded to the correct unit for reimbursement processing.
• Interpret and apply complex federal, state, and agency policy. Employ rudimentary knowledge and terminology of legal, medical and business areas, including real estate and insurance.
• Correspond with current enrollees and prospective applicants regarding eligibility requirements, available programs, location of Application Centers, etc. Conduct interviews with applicants/recipients and determine Medicaid eligibility on "roll-down" applications received from the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS). Respond to callers and visitors questions and provide quality customer service.
• Manage caseloads after certification, including completing required interim changes into computer system and responding to requests from applicants/enrollees, state officials, and other agencies regarding Medicaid-related information. Counsel applicants/recipients regarding Medicaid covered services and other available resources and refers them to other governmental agencies or community programs/resources as appropriate.
• Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.
• Assist supervisors with the review of other eligibility employees' work to ensure that work is completed per the required guidelines.
• Assist supervisors with training and providing support to new and other staff in the office.
• Other tasks as directed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree or 6 years of professional work experience in lieu of degree.
• Excellent analytical skills, effective organizational and time management skills.
• Great attention to detail and follow up, and verbal/written communications skills.
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience working Medicaid/CHIP eligibility cases.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Vietnamese

SALARY: Starts at $28,236
