Research Analyst



DEPARTMENT: Division of Business & Economic Research

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in and supervise project design, proposal writing, data collection, data entry, statistical analysis, tabulation, report preparation and presentations under strict deadlines. Monitor local economic current events, maintain the UNO Metropolitan Report and draft economic forecasting report. Work with primary researchers to interpret and present results. Provide consultation on Access and use of electronic databases, and give referrals to other sources for socio-economic data. Produce timely research reports and other materials for publication and presentation. Participate in the development, preparation and writing of research proposals for outside funding. Serve as contact for outside callers and potential clients. Cultivate, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with college departments and external organizations. Assist in the administration of, and provide consultation on, access and use of demographic, tourism, social-economic databases. Other duties as required to facilitate office operation.


A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Statistics. Must possess strong computer skills. Proficient in Access, SPSS and SAS. Must be competent with forecasting models and sensitivity analysis. Adept with online surveying software, Qualtrics preferred. Strong writing skills required. Flexibility, attention to detail, ability to work well under tight deadlines and a willingness to learn.


Knowledge of applied economics, knowledge of federal and state data, and practical experience with analysis using large economic, and/or demographic databases and socio-economic databases. Experience with accounting models and tax research and tax revenue estimation. Experienced with Excel macros.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
