POSITION SUMMARY: A Children's Center teacher is responsible for preparing and maintaining a safe and enriched learning environment while supporting the emotional and educational needs of young children.


A Children's Center teacher will be responsible for the following duties:

Assist in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children, following the guidelines of ITERS (Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale) and ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale).Conduct assessments of children's growth and development in relation to ITERS and ECERS and identify and address developmental needs of the children.Provide an emotionally safe environment for the children and maintain a clean and orderly physical environment at all times.Maintain attendance and daily participation records of the children, including ongoing developmental checklists to differentiate and individualize instruction to support each child's developing skills and knowledge.Communicate regularly with parents, co-workers and administration regarding each child's development and needs.Model and supervise teaching assistants to follow ITERS and ECERS guidelines and to support developmentally appropriate activities and curricula.Maintain confidentiality of children, parents, and staff members.Comply with all regulations, policies and procedures governing the Children's Center.Attend staff planning and evaluation meetings as required by supervisor and/or department head.Participate in continued educational hours as required by: Louisiana's Quality Stars Rating System (QRS), the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the University of New Orleans College of Education. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor and/or department head.


Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. 3 years of professional child care experience. First Aid and CPR Certifications.Thorough understanding of child development. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to take direction


Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. 5 years of professional child care experience. Knowledge of Louisiana QRS and NAEYC standards

SALARY: Commensurate with qualification and experience
