POSITION SUMMARY: The Electrical Engineering (EE) department at University of New Orleans (UNO) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor starting in Spring 2015. Recruitment efforts are focused in the area of Power Electronics, however, candidates with other specialties in Power Systems are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in EE, or closely related Engineering field is required. The Department is seeking candidates with a strong record of scholarly work in the areas of interest, a focus on obtaining external funding, an interest in developing and implementing curricula in Power Electronics and/or Power Systems, interest in team work and research collaboration, and a strong commitment to university and engagement in professional service.

UNO in collaboration with Entergy Services Inc. established the $2,000,000 Entergy Endowed Chair for Power Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering in August 2007. The purpose of establishment of the Endowed Chair is to develop at UNO one of the finest power programs in the country by means of exposing outstanding students to excellent instruction and facilities that are at the cutting edge of industrial technology and to train   outstanding engineers to supply the electric power industry and the nation. Graduates of the Program shall be aware of current technical problems of the industry and the major issues of the day by gaining hands-on training in the state-of-the-art Entergy Research Laboratory in addition to traditional modern classroom trainings.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The department is seeking candidates with an interest in teaching, developing, and implementing curricula in Power Electronics and/or Power Systems, interest in research, research collaboration and teamwork, a focus on obtaining external funding, and a strong commitment to university and engagement in academic and professional service.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or closely related Engineering field.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Recruitment efforts are focused in Power Electronics, however, candidates with other specialties in Power Systems are encouraged to apply.

SALARY: Competitive, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications.
