Moodle Upgrade May 2013

The Moodle upgrade is complete and all current UNO courses are now in Moodle 2.3. Past semester courses have been converted to 2.3 as well.

Faculty teaching this summer may also request to attend these sessions by emailing moodle@uno.edu.

We will hold training sessions for faculty teaching in the fall over the course of the summer and into the fall, and will post a sign-up link on our Moodle Training page by the second week of June. During the first week of classes, we are meeting with users one on one and in small groups; call us at 504-280-5512 or email us to arrange for assistance.

In mid-July, we will archive all Moodle courses from Summer 2011, Fall 2011, Spring 2012 and Summer 2012. That will clear up the clutter in your Dashboards. If you plan to copy content from these courses for Fall 2013, you should go ahead and copy that material now. You will be able to access archived courses only by request through the Office of Instructional Technology after June 1.

Short Guide to Moodle 2.3 Changes

We've put together a Quick Guide that will get most faculty users acclimated to 2.3.

Exporting Grades & Attendance Records

Moodle allows you to export your grades in several formats so that you can keep a copy for your records. In your course, click on the Grades link, then click the Export tab in your gradebook. You'll see a list of the items in your gradebook; all are selected by default, but you can deselect any you wish. Above that, choose whether you want an OpenDocument spreadsheet, a Plain text file, an Excel spreadsheet, or an XML file. Scroll to the bottom and click Submit, then click Download on the Preview page that appears. You may also export Attendance records if you use the Attendance activity block - just click on the Attendance link and then the Export tab, and follow the instructions from there.
