BoR EPSCoR Programs

Links with Industry and National Labs (open through 6/30/15)

Purpose: Develop a diverse, internationally competitive and engaged workforce of scientists and engineers by establishing partnerships and alliances between Louisiana researchers and collaborators at national laboratories, research centers or industrial facilities.


Reporting requirements if funded: 

  • Upon completion of award - final report in letter format submitted through LOGAN
  • About one year after award – follow-up questionnaire (see link above)
 
 

Opportunities for Partnerships in Technology with Industry (5/22/14 due date)

Purpose: Support faculty in their efforts to collaborate with private sector industrial/business entities on either research or commercialization focus.

 
Reporting requirements if funded:

  • Upon completion of award - final report submitted through OASIS (log-in information will be sent to PI)
  • About one year after award – follow-up report through OASIS (PI will be contacted to complete)
 
 

Pilot Funding for New Research (not currently open)

Purpose:  Stimulate and support science and engineering faculty in their exploration of novel research with the goal of becoming more competitive in federal funding opportunities.

Planning Grants for Major Initiatives (not currently open)

Purpose: Provide assistance to teams of researchers who are in the process of developing a proposal to a federal funding agency for a major initiative, such as an NSF Science and Technology Center or an Engineering Research Center.

  • Application (link will be provided once new Request for Application is published)


Post-award requirements if funded:

  • Within 30 days of submitting proposal to federal funding agency – a copy of the proposal sent to BoR
  • Upon receipt of funding decision from federal funding agency – notify BoR of status of proposal
  • About one year after award – follow-up report (PI will be contacted to complete)
 
 

Preliminary Planning Grants for Major Initiatives (not currently open)

Purpose: Provide assistance to teams of researchers who are in the process of developing a proposal, or pre-proposal, to a federal funding agency for a large-scale research and/or education program.

Post-award requirements if funded:

  • Within 30 days of submitting proposal to federal funding agency – a copy of the proposal sent to BoR
  • Upon receipt of funding decision from federal funding agency – notify BoR of status of proposal

Supervised Undergraduate Research Experiences (4/3/14 due date)

Purpose: Provide opportunities for undergraduate students to learn modern research and laboratory techniques and to motivate students toward careers in science and technology fields.

Post-award requirements if funded:

  • Upon completion of award – Outcome Report submitted through OASIS (log-in information will be sent to PI; PI may need to send email to oasis@laepscor.org)

Travel Grants for Emerging Faculty (open through 6/30/15)

Travel grant applications are processed through the Office of Research but the award is made directly to the individual.  The recipient must follow BoR guidelines for submitting paperwork for reimbursement of travel expenses.

Purpose: Assist emerging Louisiana faculty members to become more competitive by providing funding to visit federal agency program officers and to give plenary or major invited talks at regional, national or international meetings.


Post-award requirements if funded:

  • Within 30 days of travel – travel reimbursement request submitted to BoR (Travel Expense Account Form with original receipts)
  • Upon completion of travel – final report, 200 words or less, documenting outcome of travel (must be done prior to payment of expenses by BoR)
  • About one year after award – follow-up questionnaire
