Nationally Ranked
Our students come here for a number of reasons, but on the top of that list is the high-quality education we provide. We're proud to be named one of the nation's best colleges by The Princeton Review, Forbes, and U.S. News & World Report. We are also classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral University with Higher Research Activity. The University's rankings are a testament to the students we attract and the quality of our faculty.
Meaningful Opportunities
Academic programs offered at UNO prepare students to participate in the global economy. The Henry Bernstein College of Business Administration boasts an accounting program with an AACSB International accounting accreditation that puts it among the top three percent of programs in the world and its master's degree program in hospitality and tourism management has a 100 percent industry-specific job placement rate. The Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering offers the only electrical, mechanical and civil engineering programs in the New Orleans area and the Boysie Bollinger School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is one of only several in the nation.
The Department of Computer Science has certifications from the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
The College of Liberal Arts, Education and Human Development offers students a robust preparation in the arts and in educator and counselor training. UNO students, faculty and alumni perform on more stages at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on an annual basis than representatives from any other college or university.
Vibrant Campus Experience
Grab a cup of coffee at one of our coffee shops and relax by the water feature at the Merrick Patio. Stop for a yoga class at the Recreation and Fitness Center. Tour the latest student art submissions at the Fine Arts Gallery or see a live Jazz at the Sandbar performance every Wednesday at The Cove. Watch our Privateers participate in NCAA Division I athletics. Picnic on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain.
Just minutes away from UNO's main campus, the French Quarter boasts world-class food, historic charm and exciting nightlife. The birthplace of jazz music and Creole cuisine, today's New Orleans produces cutting-edge biomedical research, leads the nation in public education reforms, and attracts record numbers of young entrepreneurs.
Earn Your Degree Without going into Debt
In addition to its prime location and stellar program offerings, UNO offers one of the most affordable opportunities for higher education. For many consecutive years, U.S. News and World Report has included UNO on its list of universities where students have the least amount of debt following graduation. UNO alumni also have some of highest average early-career salaries among graduates of all Louisiana universities. Over $41 million dollars in financial aid and scholarships are awarded annually to UNO students.
