Meet Our Staff

Jody Duvernay

Duvernay has served the University of New Orleans as Director of the Department of Recreation & Intramural Sports (RIS) for the past five years. Duvernay began her career with RIS, as a student worker over 30 years ago.

Duvernay graduated from UNO, where she earned a BA in Physical Education and a Master’s degree in Health Promotion. She is a New Orleans native and currently resides in Mandeville, LA.

Thibodeaux is entering her 14th year at the University of New Orleans where she serves as the Associate Director of Recreation & Intramural Sports.

Thibodeaux is a New Orleans native. She first started at the University in 2004 as a student where she worked at the Recreation & Fitness Center while pursuing a degree in Exercise Physiology.

Avila is entering his fourth year at the University of New Orleans where he serves as Assistant Director of Recreation and Intramural Sports. He came to the Lakefront in December 2018.

Avila is a Metairie native and a Privateer graduate in the Class of 2016 with a degree in History. He spent a year at Archbishop Rummel High School where he was the junior high soccer head coach.

Avila also spent a year as the coaching coordinator at Soccer Shots in Metairie. Soccer Shots is a premier youth soccer program for children.
