Randy Bates (Professor Emeritus) has taught on the faculties of New University High School, St. Martin’s High School, and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts; as an Instructor at Tulane University, Loyola University, Saint Mary’s Dominican College, Louisiana State University, and Harvard University; as an Associate Professor at Xavier University of Louisiana; and from 1999-2019 as an Associate Professor, then a Professor in the English Department and the Creative Writing Workshop at UNO.
His writing credits include RINGS: On the Life and Family of a Southern Fighter (nonfiction), Dolphin Island (poems), an NEA grant, and publications in Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, and others. In 2021, Xavier University Press will publish his collection, Liebestraum (prose and poems).
In newfound awe and appreciation of fiction writers, he is now trying to complete a novel.
