For the last twenty-five years, the fiction writers in the MFA program at the University of New Orleans have met on Monday nights to share and discuss their work, to study and enhance the craft of their calling. Not all the stories contained in this volume were produced for, and displayed in, Monday-night workshop, but all the writers included here devoted three years of Monday nights to sharpening their literary talents. This book celebrates the writers they have become.
Award-winning writer and critic Fredrick Barton has authored four novels, a play in verse, and numerous short stories, essays, and reviews. He was a founder of the Creative Writing Workshop at the University of New Orleans where he served as Director for many years. He continues to teach in the program and live in New Orleans, LA.
Joanna Leake is the author of A Few Days in Weasel Creek. The screen adaptation of this novel was a C.B.S. movie-of-the-week. In addition, she has written screenplays under contract for Rainbow Productions, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Brothers. She is a Professor of English and served from l992-2001 and from 2003 to 2009 as the Director of the Creative Writing Workshop at the University of New Orleans.
