The School of Education offers quality academic programs in initial and advanced teacher preparation as well as master’s and doctoral degrees for education career professionals and community counselors.
Our commitment to the School of Education remains strong as we expand and enhance our teaching programs. Students can pursue both BS and MAT degrees in elementary and secondary education, designed to meet today’s educational needs. We are proud to develop educators who shape communities locally and far beyond.
Teacher Education provides a full range of initial and advanced programs related to the preparation of teachers and related personnel. The program partners with and improves schools in the Greater New Orleans area and generates and disseminates applied, basic, and sponsored research concerning teaching and learning.
The Counselor Education Program offers both master’s and doctoral degrees in counseling. Both programs are accredited by The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and graduates meet the academic qualifications for becoming a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC), certified school counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Louisiana.
The Educational Administration graduate programs prepares individuals intending to build academic or administrative careers in the areas of school, college, or university leadership and administration. Our graduates go on to become regional, state, and national leaders in educational reform, administrators in both K-12 and higher education settings, and innovators in improving student learning and development.
The Human Performance and Health Promotion (HPHP) program prepares students for professions that enhance individual and community wellness and promote health and physical activity. Completing an HPHP degree proves the skills to make a difference in the health and wellness of individuals or communities.
