Childhood Education.

University of New Orleans education professor April Whatley Bedford has been named co-editor of the Journal of Research in Childhood Education. Bedford is a professor of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education and Human Development.

The Journal of Research in Childhood Education is published by the Association of Childhood Education International and is one of the premier research journals in the field of childhood education. The journal features articles that advance knowledge and theory of education of children, infancy through early adolescence. Published quarterly, it reaches educators, psychologists, researchers, libraries and teacher education researchers.

Bedford teaches courses in elementary literacy, curriculum and qualitative research methods; she also works extensively with doctoral students. Her professional interests include literacy, children's literature, teacher education and narrative research.

She will serve as co-editor of the Journal of Research in Childhood Education with Renee Casbergue, a professor in the College of Human Sciences and Education at LSU and a former faculty member at UNO. They previously served as co-associate editors of the journal. Their editorship will last for three years.
