Message from the President
Dear Faculty and Staff,
ERP is one of those acronyms that even if you don’t know what it stands for, you certainly rely on it to do your job. An Enterprise Research Planning (ERP) system is a type of software that helps organizations automate and manage day-to-day business activities. At the University of New Orleans, ERP is now synonymous with Workday. As many of you know, the University moved to Workday for human resources, payroll and financial services three years ago. This transition enabled us to modernize our operations while reducing workload associated with the processing and storage of paper records.
We are now in the process of transitioning from WebSTAR (aka PeopleSoft) to Workday Student, a cloud-based application for managing student records and processes that will be integrated with HR and financial information. Early reports from students have been positive and, if testing goes well, we expect to open Fall 2024 registration to students in Workday Student on Monday, April 8. Students have shared that they find the software easy to navigate as they plan and register for classes. Future students will also benefit from a simplified application to the University that is integrated into Workday Student.
Executing this project is a Herculean task, and I am so grateful to the members of our project team including David Armstrong, Karenlynn Bell, Deon Bergeron, Joe Bisceglie, Kara Bisceglie, Jamie Dello Stritto, David Dupree, Donald Harrison, Samantha Girish, Lauri Henry, George Hilburn, Rami LeBlanc, Garren McKelvey, Robert Meredith, Kenny Merrick, Colby Stoever and Paul Weiser. Debby Charrier’s leadership of the project has been exemplary. Due to the team’s expertise and dedication, our institution is taking a massive step forward in how we serve our students. This is a major accomplishment, so please join me in thanking them for all of their amazing work.
With UNO Pride,
Kathy Johnson, Ph.D.
