Message from the President
Dear UNO Community,
As you may be aware, Tropical Storm Francine has formed in the Gulf of Mexico. It is expected to develop into a hurricane that will likely make landfall along the Louisiana coast on Wednesday night, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to our area. The University is monitoring the storm and is in contact with emergency managers from the City of New Orleans and the State of Louisiana. As Francine’s path becomes clearer, we will have a better idea of if and how we will need to alter our operations to ensure the safety of our students and our employees.
If you are not already registered for Privateer Alerts, our emergency text notification system, please do so now. When you sign into MyApps, you will see a tile marked “Privateer Alerts.” Click on the title and enter your information. In case of an emergency—hurricane, tornado or major weather or crisis event—the University will send out a time-sensitive warning message through the system.
Please stay tuned for additional updates.
Sincerely,
Kathy Johnson, Ph.D.
President
The University of New Orleans
