Graduate Studies
The Department of English offers two graduate degrees through unique on-site and online courses of study designed to flexibly accommodate a variety of student interests and needs.
M.A. in English
Starting in Spring 2023, all of our MA courses will be offered in a variety of online formats. Students may pursue the Master of Arts in English through our online degree-granting program, which offers two concentrations: Literary and Cultural Studies and Professional Writing, all of which prepare students for careers in teaching, writing, and a wide variety of professional fields or further graduate study leading to the doctorate. Although all courses in this program may be taken online, students may have the option of taking certain credit hours in residency, all of which will count toward completion of the 33-hour degree.

Students in the residency program study nearly entirely on campus and must complete 45 hours of graduate coursework, six of which may be thesis work.
