About the Setting
The practicum and internship program at UNOCS is designed to assist interns in developing clinical skills appropriate to those of an entry-level counselor working with adults. Graduate student interns gain experience working with clients with diverse backgrounds, life experience, and presenting problems using a Solution Focused Framework.
Internships at UNOCS are open for practicum during the Spring & Summer semesters and internship during the Fall & Spring semesters. Internship hours are available from Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am- 4:00 pm. Weekend and after hour events may be available, but not guaranteed. Interns completing practicum at a different site may be considered for internships I and II only if there are open positions.

Training includes experiences within the following areas:
- Case conceptualization and treatment planning
- Individual counseling
- Group counseling
- Crisis intervention
- Career testing and counseling
- Outreach programming and psychoeducational presentations

Application Process
The UNOCS Practicum and Internship Application must be completed to start the application process. Applicants will be contacted via e-mail to schedule an interview.

Training Program Requirements
- Commitment of two semesters minimum but 3 semesters is preferred.
- Minimum on site hours of 10 hours per week for practicum & 16 hours per week for internship.
- Participation in a two-day internship orientation.
- Participation in weekly individual supervision.
