UNO Gears Up for Finals Frenzy
Students at the University of New Orleans have a chance to shake off any nervous energy before they take final exams this year. Finals Frenzy, a new event planned by the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services.
"It's just a way for students to let loose, relax a little bit and get rid of their stress, shake it off a little bit," said UNO student success counselor Meghan Schwab.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today on the quadrangle outside the UNO Earl K. Long Library. Stress balls, coloring balls and a moon bounce will be available to help students relax, as will animals brought to campus by the A.S.P.C.A. for some "T.L.C."
"Because what cheers you up more than a puppy?" said Schwab.
Two of New Orleans' leading yogi, Lauren Darnell and Jenae Holmes of Life Yoga will teach a yoga class on the lawn to help raise money for their own volunteer projects. Darnell is hoping to go to Africa for a yoga project and Holmes is raising money to do a service project in Venezuela.
Finals Frenzy is planned the week before finals and not the week of finals so that more students can participate, said Schwab. All are invited to "come play with puppies, grab some snacks and gather information about last minute tutoring."
