UNO Accounting Professor Publishes "Top 20" Article in Top Accounting Journal
An accounting professor at the University of New Orleans wrote one of the most popular articles published last year in the nation's most widely read accounting publication.
UNO Associate Professor of Accounting Joseph D. Beams co-authored with John W. Briggs an article entitled "Tax Planning for Parents of College Students" in March 2012 in the Journal of Accountancy. Briggs is an associate professor of accounting at the James Madison University College of Business in Harrisonburg, Va.
The article, designed to help accountants help their clients to form a financial strategy based on the tax code's wide array of options, ranks among the journal's 20 most popular articles of 2012.
Published since 1905, the Journal of Accountancy is the flagship publication of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. With 386,000 subscribers, the journal reaches more financial decision makers than all other accounting publications combined.
