UNO Named One of Nation's Low-Cost Colleges With High Starting Salaries for Grads
The University of New Orleans ranks among the nation's leaders in low-cost colleges with high starting salaries for graduates, according to a new list compiled by the website Affordable Colleges Online. The rankings show the average starting salary for a UNO graduate is $41,600.
To compile its list, Affordable Colleges Online reviewed 4-year, fully-accredited public institutions with in-state tuition of less than $5,000 per year, and with average starting salaries for graduates of more than $40,000 per year. The website also looked at mid-career salary averages as well as the overall return on investment for the degree. Affordable Colleges Online provides students with information about affordable higher education options.
"In this climate of soaring higher education costs, prospective students should know that it's quite possible to obtain a great education that lands them a well-paying job, but at a very affordable price," Affordable Colleges Online founder Dan Schuessler said in a news release. "With a total tuition investment of about $20,000, graduates from these schools leave with the skills and education needed to earn high starting salaries in great careers."
Affordable Colleges Online used data from the National Center for Education Statistics, Integrated Postsecondary Data System, Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and PayScale.com to analyze more than 4,000 public institutions throughout the country.
