The 2024 edition of the New Orleans 500, which profiles business leaders in the region, features 70 University of New Orleans alumni, as well as several UNO administrators.
The list, published by Biz New Orleans magazine, profiles business leaders who are driving the greater New Orleans economy and making decisions that will shape the region’s future. The issue includes profiles and photos of “influential, involved and inspiring business leaders.”
Inclusion in the magazine, according to Biz New Orleans magazine’s editors, is the result of staff research into every sector of the local economy to “identify executives who are innovating, creating, leading, succeeding and giving back to the community.”
UNO administrators who made the list are: Darrell Kruger, provost, senior vice president for academic affairs, and executive director of research and economic development; Mamie Gasperecz, vice president for business affairs; and Tim Duncan, vice president for athletics and recreation. Rebecca Conwell, president and CEO of The Beach at UNO, is also one of the New Orleans 500.
The business sectors explored include education, real estate, energy, manufacturing, maritime, technology, transportation/logistics, hospitality and tourism, finance, healthcare, public companies, nonprofits and professional services.
The University of New Orleans, the institution widely credited for having built the middle-class of New Orleans, has more than 48,000 alumni who live in metro New Orleans.
