“She Stoops to Conquer” is set at the Hardcastle Ranch, as two young suitors come to woo the daughters of the family under the watchful eye of Mr. Hardcastle. Marlow has come hoping to win the hand of vivacious Kate, if he can keep from fainting at the sight of her. Meanwhile, Hastings and Constance have had a secret engagement for years and are hoping this may finally be their chance to run away together.
Wily Mrs. Hardcastle has been hoping to marry cousin Constance to her brutish dolt of a son, Tony Lumpkin, so that Constance’s inheritance will revert to her. Luckily for Constance, Tony has a few tricks up his sleeve to get out of a wedding.
