Fall MAMBO

SAVE THE DATE: Fall MAMBO- August 12-16, 2024

Fall MAMBO is a three-day IN-PERSON orientation and will immerse you into the Privateer experience and prepare you for your first semester at UNO. Students will be assigned three days between August 12-16, 2024 as we get closer to Fall MAMBO.

 It is required for all incoming first time, full time, first year students enrolled in UNIV 1001, Chem 1000, or Engr 1000 course to attend Fall MAMBO. Transfers are welcome to attend our New Transfer Experience track.

First time, first year students will meet virtually with your UNIV 1001, Chem 1000, or Engr 1000 class to discuss topics around your transition into our university and attend activities to help you get connected to fellow Privateers.

Highlights of MAMBO

Each student's schedule will feature the following sessions:

UNIV 1001, CHEM 1000, ENGR 1000
In your UNIV 1001, CHEM 1000, and ENGR 1000 course you will discuss the following topics:
- Highschool vs College
- Technology at UNO
College/Major Breakout

An Orientation Leader will lead a breakout discussion with new students of similar majors about the challenges of starting college and strategies to overcome them.
Workshops

Connect with campus resources and academic departments while you learn tools to be successful at UNO.
Playfair

Break the ice with and meet fellow students with this fun activity.
Bruno Talks

BrunoTalks is a special event designed just for you, our new students at the University of New Orleans. Inspired by TED Talks and named after our mascot, Bruno, this program features short, powerful stories from fellow students and campus leaders. They’ll share their personal journeys of learning, growth, and overcoming challenges. Through these stories, you'll gain valuable insights and feel more connected as you begin your college adventure. Join us to connect, learn, and embark on this exciting journey together!
