UNIV 1001 - University Success
Your UNIV 1001 class is designed to equip you with resources and skills you'll need to be successful at the University of New Orleans. Even if you feel as though you're already a strong student, this course will give you the edge to make your academic life easier by showing you the ins and outs of accessing your courses online, how best to reach out to your professors, registering for classes, and more!
Important Note
Please note that UNIV 1001 class meetings will begin with MAMBO, before the first day of classes. You are expected to attend class each day just as you'll be expected to do throughout the semester.

- Study Abroad Opportunities at UNO - Learn more about study abroad opportunities available to UNO students including summer programs and semester exchange programs.
- Introduction to the Center for Undergraduate Research & Creativity - The Center for Undergraduate Research and Creativity is dedicated to engaging undergraduate students in research and creative works. The Center invites you to this information session which will introduce you to the center; our mechanisms for disseminating information to students; funding mechanisms and opportunities (both internal and external); presentation opportunities (both internal and external); and ways to find mentors on campus. This event is open to ALL undergraduate students regardless of academic major.
- On The Fence About How You Feel? - Led by Counseling Services, we will discuss how stress impacts our nervous system and relates to symptoms of anxiety and depression. We will learn how to acknowledge when we feel off, tools to self-soothe, and give an overview of Counseling Services.
- Welcome to the College of Sciences! - Put yourself on the road to academic success! Join the College of Sciences to learn about programs, key resources, and applied learning opportunities available to science students, as well as tips and best practices from our academic advisors.
- Emotional Intelligence: The Key To Success in Your First-Year and Beyond - Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to understand your own emotions and the emotions of others and to use your emotions effectively to guide your thoughts and actions. EI is not fixed; rather, we can develop and strengthen our EI skills throughout our lifetime. Join us for this workshop as we build Emotional Intelligence skills together!

- How to Build a Self-Advocacy Toolkit - Self-advocacy is a skill that enables you to understand your strengths and weaknesses, know what you need to succeed, and communicate those needs to faculty, staff, and peers. Join us to learn more and start building your self-advocacy toolkit!
- Greek 101 - Come learn about joining a sorority or fraternity at UNO! You will have a chance to meet our members and ask questions!
- College Beyond Orientation - This workshop is exclusive for students who are members of College Beyond. College Beyond students are required to participate in one of these workshops where they will be welcomed to the program, learn about the benefits, and what to expect this year.
- Goal Setting & Motivation - You're on your way! Join this workshop to help set guideposts to help you stay motivated and on track.
- Hazing Prevention: What to Know for Getting Involved at UNO - In this interactive workshop, we will explore examples of hazing, discuss its consequences, and find out what we can do to ensure all members of our UNO community are safe within their organizations. This is a great session to attend if you are thinking about getting involved on campus!
- Hurricane Preparedness & Volunteering During Emergencies with NOLA Ready - You'll learn tips about how to prepare for hurricane season. We'll also share information about how you can volunteer with NOLA Ready during emergencies & disasters.
- Budget Now! Save for Later! - Tips and tricks to learn to appreciate budgeting and the lifelong positive effects it has on finances, lifestyle and happiness!
- Myths and Facts for Academic Success - This workshop will take you through common myths about college and provide you with some kills for navigating the academic maze. Offered by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Education, & Human Development, the workshop will give you some scenarios and possible actions for some real-life situations in your classes or the academic setting. Practical and relevant, the workshop should help you get a good start at UNO!
