Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Munich University of Applied Sciences
The Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Munich University of Applied Sciences (FH-Munich) is one of the largest UAS in Germany. Its professors and part time lecturers are devoted to one goal: They are there not just to pass on knowledge to our students – but know-how.
Local conditions could not be better. Excellent contacts to companies in the Munich high-tech region guarantee students the opportunity to apply in industry what they have learned in the classroom and develop their creative potential. Every program includes one to two practical semesters in industry, giving students the opportunity to experience real work places and real working conditions. In addition, multiple laboratories provide students with the opportunity for practical application of what they have learned in the classroom.
The city of Munich is a large cultural and sports center. Munich played host to the Olympics in 1972, and nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Innsbruck, Austria have hosted the Winter Olympics. Munich is home to two professional soccer teams: the powerhouse FC Bayern München, and the second division 1860 München. FC Bayern München is one of the best teams in European soccer and it is consistently one of the best teams in Germany.
UNO ISEP Exchange
Regular International Exchange students can go for one semester or for a full academic year. The exchange agreement between UNO and FH-Munich allows students to pay tuition at their home institution but they must pay all other expenses, such as housing, transportation, insurance, meals, etc.UNO students at FH-Munich must pay a "Semester Fee" for every semester they are at FH-Munich. The Semester Fee pays for a variety of services for students, including Internet access and a rail pass good for all public transportation in Munich and local rail service in the state of Bavaria.
Please keep in mind that the German academic calendar does not coincide with that of UNO, so those students wishing to study abroad for only one semester may find it beneficial to attend the "summer" semester in Germany. Infromation about the university's academic schedule can be found here.
Courses
While FH-Munich offers courses in English, fluency in German will increase the availability of courses. Without enough language skills students will be restricted to classes within special programs, or to a small number of courses offered in English. German language courses are offered in all levels and will be credited by FH-Munich yet may not be included in the exchange program.
Accommodation
UNO students on exchange at FH-Munich are given priority for rooms in one of the university's residency halls. Students are responsible for making their own living arrangements while in Munich and the cost of these arrangements are borne solely by the student on the exchange. More information on availability and the type of housing offered, as well as application forms, can be found at: Studentenwerk München
Munich International Summer Schools are not included in the exchange, but may be an attractive study option for the ambitious student.
