Message from the President
Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am so thankful to the 110 task force members who are driving our work in planning for the future of the University of New Orleans. I also appreciate so many others in our university community who submitted their feedback during the early stages of the process, or who met with members of the five task forces to share their ideas. You will be able to follow our progress by visiting Planning 2030 | The University of New Orleans (uno.edu). The page lays out our five areas of focus, the members of each planning task force, the cross-cutting themes and a timeline. There’s also a link to submit comments on our plan as it evolves. I encourage you to check back as the draft plans will be posted to the page and revised over time. Please mark your calendars for our UNO 2030 Town Hall on Monday, March 25 at 1 p.m. in KH 129, where we will share a complete draft plan with our university community and receive feedback for further refinements.
In a recent email, one of the task force co-chairs wrote, “I was pleasantly surprised at how energizing the planning discussions were and genuinely impressed by how much passion the group has for student success at UNO. Instead of being defensive or self-serving, folks were thoughtful, honest, and open in their approach and remained focused on thriving students. They will be excellent champions as the work of this plan unfolds.”
I can’t tell you how heartening this message was, and how excited I am about the future of this amazing university.
With UNO Pride,
Kathy Johnson, Ph.D.
President
The University of New Orleans
