Internships

The internship with BusPatrol has been great! The Software Development courses offered at UNO have set excellent benchmarks for writing software in a way that is, in some cases, ahead of the industry standards. The CSCI department staff has always been ready to answer any questions I've had regarding working in the industry. The knowledge and good practice in code provided by the CSCI courses and professors have helped me to pass the interview and to learn quickly how my company's code works. These skills have been invaluable to my job and continue to show their use in application every day.

My time at Susco Solutions has exposed me to the challenging yet rewarding experience of team based development. The value of working with people who are not only more experienced but who are also happy to share their knowledge is immeasurable. I strongly believe this internship has set me on a path to a successful career.

My internship is a captivating opportunity to expand my knowledge of software development and expose me to the professional working environment. I receive helpful advice from my mentor and work with experienced coworkers that motivate me to learn at a fast pace.

UNO has given me the confidence to apply for internships with the knowledge and skills I've obtained from the classes and activities I have participated in. My time at Entergy has been wonderful and I owe a lot of it to the great Computer Science faculty. My advice to students applying for internships is to join the student clubs like ACM and participate in the extracurricular activities we have. I highly recommend being part of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) team. This will help you become a better programmer and be more confident with white board interview questions. ICPC problems and programming problems they ask in an interview are very similar. Remember programming is a skill and the only way for you to get better is to practice everyday!

UNO Computer Science department helped me learn about LUCID by taking me on a tour to the company’s site. My internship at LUCID is exposing me to new technologies and teaching me how to work as a team. My internship is keeping me motivated to learn more everyday and setting me to become successful in my career.

My internship has been immensely rewarding. I get to put the skills I have learned in class to the test and use them to complete real-world projects. My mentors are full of knowledge and happy to share it with me. The scientists at NRL-SSC are fantastic, I am constantly learning and the day-to-day experience is enjoyable too. I am tremendously grateful to UNO and to the NRL-SSC, one of UNO's CS department close partner, for this opportunity.

My internship with Ochsner Information Services department has given me valuable insight into the intersection of technology and improving patient health outcomes. I've also had a firsthand opportunity to see some of the ways in which the medical field is adapting to the changing demands of the marketplace in the digital age.
