Academics & Courses
UNO-AYA courses combine with University of Innsbruck courses to provide a rich palate of opportunities for AYA students. Some courses are offered regularly, others vary each semester. Some courses are required for all AYA students, but there is no one complete set of fixed course offerings. Every attempt is made to customize course schedules to meet individual needs. Regardless of whether you have no prior German knowledge or enough German to qualify for full immersion, it is important that you communicate directly with Resident Director Dr. Margaret Davidson regarding course possibilities, syllabi, and other course details. Guest students are responsible for securing approval from their own schools for the courses they wish to transfer.
Please note that upon specific, individual request, an internship for academic credit might be possible.
All students need to complete at least twelve hours per semester, but may enroll in up to nineteen hours per semester. Regular attendance and successful completion of examinations are required of every AYA student. All UNO-AYA special courses have midterm and final exams, and transcripts will reflect full letter grade evaluations. University of Innsbruck courses have evaluation criteria determined by the respective professors (oral exam, written exam and/or term paper).
Students will receive a transcript from the University of Innsbruck and from the University of New Orleans at no extra cost. The official UNO transcript will provide a permanent record of all hours completed in Innsbruck and will be sent to the home institutions of all guest students who complete the AYA program.

AYA Courses
All UNO-AYA courses, whether required or optional, are taught primarily in English. To avoid "island program" isolation and encourage interaction with local students, AYA courses are also open to University of Innsbruck students, Erasmus students and other visiting international students. These courses have UNO course numbers. See listing below.
