2013-14 Musical Excursions Schedule Announced
Fei-Fei Dong recently won the 2013 Gina Bachauer Piano Competition at The Juilliard School, for which she will receive a full tuition scholarship. She was also among the top six finalists in the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
A native of China, Dong is a master of music degree student at Juilliard. She gave her debut recital in 2000 at the age of 10, and her orchestra concert debut with the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra at the age of 13, playing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3. She has since appeared with the Aspen Music Festival, Hong Kong, Shanxi, and Shenzhen symphony orchestras and the Juilliard Orchestra. She has made debuts in Alice Tully Hall in New York City, the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall and the Louvre Auditorium.
The Ethos Percussion Group presents unique performances that transport global influences into Western chamber music to create a visually and musically compelling experience. The group has performed at major concert venues across the United States and the United Kingdom.
The Italian Saxophone Quartet brings together four of the most established soloists in their field. The group has won several chamber music competitions, received special recognition for their interpretations of contemporary music and performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world.
Musical Excursions is presented jointly by the Department of Music and the Graduate Program in Arts Administration at the University of New Orleans. The sponsors for the 2013-14 series are: the Harper Family Foundation, the Mitchiner-Gittinger Family Foundation, Hotel Maison Dupuy, Muriel's Restaurant, 89.9 WWNO and UNO Student Government.
Ticket prices are as follows: $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and UNO faculty and staff, $5 for non-UNO students and free for UNO students.
