Income Tax
Students who are any of the following:
- Graduate/Research/Teaching Assistants
- On-Campus Student Workers
- Scholarship Recipients
Must complete the Foreign National Tax Information Form . Follow the directions on the form and submit the information requested to the International Tax Consultant.
Please note that U.S. federal and state governments require the University of New Orleans to withhold taxes on student wages.
Students receiving scholarships that pay for room and board should be aware that these amounts are taxable. UNO is required to calculate the tax amount and add it to student fee bills each semester. The amount will vary according to whether the student’s country of citizenship has a tax treaty with the U.S. Some students may be able to recover some of the tax amount by filing an annual tax return.
Early each spring semester, the University will process forms for students subject to tax withholding. OISS will send information to students about the forms with additional details about filing state and federal income taxes. Please email oiss@uno.edu with any questions.
